Empowering women as leaders of sustainable change
The Women Empowerment Network is an initiative of the Sustainable Development Council (SDC) dedicated to advancing gender equality and supporting women's meaningful participation in sustainable development, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 5.
The initiative creates platforms for women and girls to develop leadership skills, access opportunities, and contribute to decision-making processes at community, institutional, and policy levels.
Through capacity building, mentorship programs, advocacy campaigns, and community engagement, the Women Empowerment Network works to break barriers and create more inclusive pathways for women's participation in development.
Recognized with Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from 2021.
The Women Empowerment Network focuses on building leadership capacity, promoting gender-responsive policies, and creating safe spaces for dialogue, learning, and collaboration among women and girls.
SDC works with educational institutions, civil society organizations, government agencies, and community groups to design programs that address the specific challenges women face in accessing education, employment, and leadership roles.
The initiative also promotes awareness of gender equality issues through campaigns, events, and research that highlight the vital role women play in building sustainable, inclusive communities.
