Protecting the ocean that sustains us all
The Ocean Conservation Alliance is an initiative of the Sustainable Development Council (SDC) dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems and promoting the sustainable use of ocean resources in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 14.
The initiative works with coastal communities, marine scientists, governments, and environmental organizations to address the pressing challenges facing the world's oceans, including pollution, overfishing, and climate impact.
Through research, awareness campaigns, community engagement, and policy advocacy, the Ocean Conservation Alliance supports efforts to preserve marine biodiversity and ensure the ocean's resources are managed sustainably.
Recognized with Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from 2021.
The initiative focuses on raising awareness of ocean health issues, supporting marine conservation programs, and building partnerships that protect coastal and marine ecosystems.
SDC works with local communities, educational institutions, and environmental organizations to implement programs that reduce ocean pollution, promote sustainable fishing, and protect marine habitats.
